THE GENERAL DATA ON DEPARTMENT OF APPLIED COMPUTER SCIENCE

Presently, the staff of the Department consists of 25 specialists: 12 of them are the lecturers, 4 people are the support personnel, 9 are post-graduate students. Among the teaching staff there are 5 Professors, 7 Associate Professors, a number of Doctors and Candidates of Science. The Head of the Department is Doctor of Science, Professor Alexander N. Tselykh. The teaching staff proficiency is achieved through using the latest forms and methods of instructing process like programs on instructing methods, training students in their major practical studies in a form of a game and also automatic instructing systems and modules. It is also achieved through studying major subjects using the latest versions of bank systems and publishing systems, modern text and graphic editors, as well as the latest versions of applied software packages for automated accountancy, commerce, warehousing; legal aspects of commerce and business; problem-oriented packages. Two persons work over doctorate theses: Associate Professor of the department Vasilev V.S. The forms of professional refreshment courses for the teaching staff are the following regularly held seminars: seminars on methods of instructing for the Department’s lecturers (held once a month); scientific seminars on promising trends (held once or twice a month). The orientation of the educational programs, qualification and experience, the level of proficiency in methods of instructing of the Department’s teaching staff meets the aims, tasks and specific character of the specialists in the sphere of automation and control training.

Main particularities

 

Department of Applied Computer Science carries out training specialists in the sphere of information systems and information technologies, which are meant to be used in economics, business, finance spheres and within different branches of industry and commerce. The training is carried out within 3 major courses: 080801 Applied Computer Scince in economics. Master training. 080800– Applied Computer Scince. Within the courses the students can attain the following types of specialization: automatization of banking activity; automatic accounting and financial activity automatization; information systems in administrative management; publishing systems; commerce in information services sphere. During the period of training the students attain theoretical knowledge in the spheres of economics, commerce, finance, management, mathematical economic modeling and prediction, operations analysis and system analysis. The students practice the attained theoretical knowledge in four laboratories available at the Department: Software Techniques and Computer Networks Laboratory, Economic Information Systems Laboratory, Banking Information Systems Laboratory; Programming Technology and Software Systems Laboratory.

Form of study: full-time.
Term of study for Bachelor Programs – 4 years, for Masters Programs – 6 years.

 

Along with theoretical economic knowledge an employer is interested in the ability of the employee to analyze, forecast, model and create information processes and technologies within the bounds of professionally oriented information systems.
Our graduating students demonstrate an ability to solve professional problems in various fields, possess methodology to analyze knowledge domain and design task specific information systems, have an experience of implementing designed solutions in a designated instrumental environment.
Basic types of professional activities are analytic, administrative, development, management, marketing, research, consulting, and operational activities.

 

Major of Study (Specialist Program)

Applied Information Science in Economics

 

Form of study: full-time.
Term of study: 5 years.
Qualification: informatician-economist.

 

There are currently plenty of applied program complexes that fulfill the whole range of activities in economic modeling, economic calculations, and decision making. They essentially increase potential capabilities of economists.
Our graduating students combine profound knowledge of means and methods of applied information science with knowledge of economic theory, macro-and microeconomics, marketing, management, bank and accounting.
After graduation they can work in every business and administration.
